I was an athlete in high school and college when younger, and have tried to consistently workout over the years, many times very dedicated and other times in spurts over months with long breaks in-between. A series of difficult personal family events not too long ago had a very strong impact on me, and over the last two years I became very complacent in my ways, stopped exercising, started eating more and gained weight, actually weighing more than I ever have before. Along with that, my stress level increased and my ability to enjoy this phase of my life became more difficult. Along with those issues both my blood pressure and cholesterol became high and a real problem. Always feeling tired with little energy and not like how I envisioned feeling, I finally found myself coming to the point of mentally and physically having to change direction, otherwise I would be headed into a bad health crisis that was only going to get worse and not better. In mid-December last year, I started to workout at my gym and did so for a solid six weeks before noticing the Bikram RB Location a few times while driving in the area. I did some research and decided to try Bikram Yoga, as the RB Location is close to home. My son bought me a 5 Class Card for Christmas and then a 10 Class Card for my birthday. I figured I had nothing to lose and the experiment was worth doing. My first class I remember looking at the clock with 30, 20, and finally 15 minutes to complete the 90-minute class, and thinking I couldn't make it to the end. Once I took more classes and learned to breathe and pace myself better, I took Bikram Yoga as a personal challenge to myself, as it was different and challenged me more beyond the normal gym workouts I was used to over the years. Today I'm happy to say I'm hooked on Bikram Yoga and enjoy the challenge and the positive instruction at Bikram Yoga RB. In two months since I started, I have lost almost 3 inches off my waist, my blood pressure is back to normal and my cholesterol went from 262 last November to now 185 as of this week after a follow-up visit with my doctor. I have also made changes in my diet and what I consume, and feel better than I have felt in years. I am still new to Bikram and struggle a bit with some of the poses, but I'm improving and feel stronger and more flexible with each class I take. My focus is much improved, my stress level is half of what it used to be, and I feel more confident than ever before. It's been a catalyst that has definitely changed my life for the better!
